Chris Thompson from Bioforce https://www.bioforce.co.nz/ will introduce us to the many exciting ways we can help protect our trees and plants.
Bioforce is in Karaka, where they breed various predator insects, biofungicides and inoculants, to aid the grower who wants to use more environmentally aware methods.
Products include bumblebees, predators of aphids and thrips. There is also Tamarixia for tomato Potato Psyllid control (pests on tamarillos, tomatoes, goji berry and other plants).
Interestingly Auckland Branch has been talking with Bioforce about the possibility of trialling the use of some nematodes to control not only codlin moth but also the fruit driller.
