AgResearch Germplasm Centre
Zane Webber is a Research Associate at AgResearch’s Germplasm Centre. This is New Zealand’s seed-bank for grassland plants and endangered natives. The Centre holds over 140,000 seeds at 0° to -20°C. Many are ‘wild seeds’, sourced from over 100 countries. Zane took part in a challenging expedition to Tajikistan, to collect grain seeds at more than 2000 m elevation. His passion is to find seeds of forage plants that are infected with beneficial fungal endophytes that help them resist environmental stresses.
